Theatre is a form of expression from ancient times. It is a way to open us to experience different aspects of life that we may not be aware of. Theatre is beneficial as it is a medium that relieves stress and also educates people at the same time.
Theatre classes at The AMI School are a blend of drama, art and education. We believe that infusing students with a concept is not enough, for this reason we use theatre to induce the ability of critical thinking that allows students to explore challenges and vulnerable emotions in a safe environment.
The use of drama in education leads to holistic learning. It leads to personality development, helps us to teach empathy, where students portray different characters and practice putting themselves in others’ shoes. We have observed that by giving students a flavor of theatre class, it has resulted in significant improvement in communications & team work amongst students. It also aids students into the habit of goal setting as participating in drama creates a feeling of belonging and keeps our precious ones motivated at school.
