Sana Kirmani
I remember the time spent at AMI as a truly happy time in my life. Maybe it was the small class sizes which allowed individual attention or teachers always letting learning happen at a natural pace or maybe it was Aaya Amma or the piping hot aloo samosas at the canteen! AMI has played a significant role in my life’s trajectory and as clichéd as it may sound, I really wouldn’t be where I am today without AMI.
Math was never my favourite subject until Sir Shirazi started teaching it. His absolute love for the subject was evident in the way he taught. And a subject that once terrified me became a happy experience.
This school also made me discover my love for creating. Taking O-Level art was probably one of the best decisions of my life. Miss Mariam’s classes hold a special place in my heart and I remember them being a respite from the busy school day. Packing my art bag for each class would bring me so much joy and frequenting stationery shops became a norm, much to my delight. Graduating from IVS in 2015, I ended up pursuing a career in art and design and I now work as a professional illustrator and graphic designer.
I feel so lucky to have been taught, nurtured and inspired by some wonderful people. This is my small way of saying thanks to a place which I willalways looks back on with the fondest of memories.
