The Team

The managing team of Education Works (Pvt) Ltd. comprises of Nasira Faiz, Rabeea Minai, and Saba Quadir. All three started their career as Montessori trained teachers and have been working in the field of education for well over 40 years now. They are known for their innovative and progressive approach in education and are recognized as experts in curriculum development, teacher training, and educational leadership. They are also involved in several projects and initiatives to bring about meaningful changes in educational practices in Pakistan.

Rabea

Rabeea Minai

Director / Principal

Rabeea heads the Junior Section of The AMI School as one of the partners/owners of Education Works Pvt Ltd.

Rabeea began her professional career as a Montessori trained pre-school teacher. After a couple of years, Rabeea embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by establishing the Beginner’s Montessori in 1983. Following her passion for children and their education Rabeea has been managing The AMI School with her partners for more than 4 decades, and presently heads the Junior Section.

Rabeea has worked on numerous projects and social initiatives throughout her life. She helped establish a pre-school at the Women section of the central prison nearly 20 years ago, served on the Board of Governors of the Teachers Resource Centre, worked on several projects with The Book Group, and is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Legal Aid Office for prison schools in Sindh.

A true believer in an inclusive society, Rabeea attended a 6-month M.Ed. module on Inclusive education at AKU- IED and was one of the team leaders in a 3-year action research project “Developing the role of occupational therapy in Inclusive education in Pakistan” with Brunel University, UK, DOW University of Heath sciences, Pakistan and The AMI School.

Another milestone in her career was the launch of the Seniors’ Involvement Program, a weekend meet up for people 50 years and above to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for seniors.

Saba

Saba Quadir

Director / Principal

Saba Quadir heads the Senior section of The AMI School as one of the partners/owners of Education Works Pvt Ltd and has been associated with education since 1981.

She started her professional career as a Montessori teacher after completing her Montessori teachers’ diploma from Association Montessori Internationale. She joined the AMI team after working at a Montessori for two years. Saba lived in the USA for a few years where she worked in a Daycare and Montessori Elementary Environment.

Saba has worked as a volunteer for different projects with The Book Group and Zindagi Trust for developing an Urdu teaching program for primary levels, Math books for class I and coordinating Math teaching at SMB Fatima Jinnah School, Karachi for grade 4 to 7 from 2010 to 2013. She has also served on the Board of Governors at the Teachers’ Resource Centre.

Saba has a special interest in music and manages vocal training courses at The AMI School.

Nasira-Faiz

Nasira Faiz

Director / Principal

Nasira heads the Nursery Section of The AMI School and AMI Daycare and Learning Centre as one of the partners/owners of Education Works Pvt Ltd.

With an educational background in psychology, she began her professional career as a Montessori trained teacher and has been working in education since 1985. She joined the management team at The AMI School as a partner after a few years of working as a preschool teacher.

Nasira is on the board of directors at Karachi Down Syndrome Program and has been associated with it since its inception. An avid believer of inclusive education, she worked extensively on research involving the role of occupational therapy in Inclusive education in Pakistan with Brunel University, UK, DOW University of Heath sciences, Pakistan and The AMI School.

A strong believer of outdoor learning in pre-schools, she has had training of the forest school from the UK and is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach in early childhood education. At present, she is working to create a model outdoor learning space at the women’s section in central prison, Karachi for the incarcerated children in jail with their mothers. She co-founded the Seniors’ Involvement Program in 2018 with the aim of encouraging those over fifty years of age to practice active aging! She is passionate about travelling and is a partner and vice president of TravelinPk, a company recently established to promote responsible tourism in Pakistan.

Muzaffar Bukhari

Marketing Director – EWPL

Muzaffar received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Northwestern University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2006. Muzaffar has a MBA from Institute of Management Development (IMD), Switzerland, and graduated with a distinction in leadership in 2011.

Muzaffar started his career with UBS Investment Bank, New York, in 2006. He later moved back to Pakistan to work in the financial services industry and was involved in asset management and commercial banking with KASB Group.

In 2016, he took the courageous decision to answer his true calling in the work of Education. He set up the first Finnish-inspired school by the name of Veritas Learning Circle- VLC in Karachi, Pakistan. He is a stronger believer of Play-Based learning learning. Curriculum innovation, teacher training and parental involvement are the main areas of his focus.

He is passionate about mental health awareness and is a trained psychotherapist from CPPD, a premier counselling school in the UK. In 2018 he brought the franchise of a premier counselling school in the UK- CPPD to Pakistan (https://cppdlondon.com/). Currently, CPPD Pakistan trains over 200 students annually in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad in the field of mental health therapy.

He believes collaborations and shared knowledge is the way forward to advance in the field of education. In the year 2021 he entered into a strategic partnership with EWPL (hosting 3 brands under its umbrella – The AMI School, AMI Day-care & Learning Centre & KIVA School) and joined the board as a Marketing Director.

mahmood ghafoor

Mahmood Ghafoor

CFO & Chief Operating Officer

Mahmood is a seasoned management and accounting professional, who oversees the finance and operations at Education Works Pvt Ltd. and its associated projects.

He is a member of the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan. Prior to joining the EWPL team in 2017, he was working as Head of Wealth Management Operations at Standard Chartered Bank (SCB). During his career of two decades, he worked with multinational financial groups in various financial management roles, such as CFO & Company Secretary – Standard Chartered Leasing, Head of Finance for SCB Islamic Banking, Head of Taxation at MCB Bank Limited etc. His experience in accounts, finance, taxation and compliance areas, helped in structuring and streamlining overall operational processes of support functions at EWPL

moiz kamal masud

Moiz Kamal Masud

Head of Marketing, Communications & Admissions

Moiz bagged himself an undergrad in Human Resources from IoBM in 2012 after which he went on to work for organizations such as Unilever Pakistan, Abu-Dhabi Islamic Bank – UAE, Mindshare Pakistan, British Telecom – UK & HSBC – UK as a hardcore marketer. Moiz has an MBA from IoBM & a double Masters in Digital Marketing from Swansea University – UK – 2020.

He joined the EWPL team in 2022 as Head of Marketing & Communications – his enthusiasm, vigor, love for conversations; forging new relationships & persistent hard work led him into becoming the Head of Admissions at EWPL effective January 2023.

Bushra Umair

The AMI & KIVA School

Bushra Umair started her professional career as a class teacher at The AMI School in 2001 and for the last 22 years has been a part of the AMI community.

She has been working in the capacity of vice principal at The AMI School Nursery Section/KIVA School since 2021. She has been significantly trained on the topic of Inclusive Education; where she participated in a collaborative action research project on “Developing Inclusive Education in Pakistan” – which required her to work with Occupational Therapists from DUHS and researchers from Brunel University – UK & British Council Pakistan. She has conducted a number of workshops and trainings for schools across Karachi on the topic of inclusion.

Ayesha Latif

Ayesha Latif

Ayesha Latif has been an educator for the last 19 years. She currently serves as Vice Principal – Junior section at The AMI School.

Ayesha received her BE. (Bachelors of Education) from University of Karachi and a Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management from PIM. From the starting point of her educational career in 2004, she served as a consulting teacher, subject coordinator and Acting Head at Happy Home Secondary School – Karachi. She joined The AMI School in 2016 as Academic Coordinator and became VP in 2021. Ayesha continues to identify herself as predominantly a teacher at heart first and then places herself in the leadership role – She’s a firm believer that the process of learning should never stop!

Naveeda Saleem

Naveeda Saleem has been an educator for last 16 years. She currently serves as Vice Principal – Senior Section.

Naveeda began her tenure at The AMI School as a middle school mathematics teacher in 2007. After a few years she was presented with the opportunity to serve as Subject Coordinator for Mathematics – This paved her way to work closely with the school leadership and she went to acquire the position of Senior Academic Coordinator. Naveeda received her Bachelor’s in Education with specialization in Math and Science from UoK and a Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management from PIM. She represented Pakistan in CAP- Exchange for Change 2013-2015 in India. The aim was to lead a positive change and eliminate cultural misconceptions and inter-generational conflict.

Samreen Jawaid

Director Research & Development
Nursery Section

Samreen Jawaid has been an educationist for over 2 decades. She currently serves as Director Research & Development at the Nursery section.

Samreen has a Master’s in English Literature and Early Childhood Educational Development from AKU and a plethora of certifications on Special/Inclusive Education, teaching and learning strategies. Samreen is a master trainer, who has conducted myriad workshops & training sessions at the AKU Institute of Educational Development, Education Fund for Sindh, DOW University and KDSP.

At The AMI School, she has always been an advocate of Inclusive teaching and learning methodologies. She actively participated in a collaborative action research project “Developing Inclusive Education in Pakistan” and shared effective inclusive strategies working along Occupational Therapists from DOW University and Debbie Kramer Roy from Brunel University.

Naureen Jawed

Naureen Hirani

Director Research & Development
Junior Section

Naureen Hirani currently serves the role of Director Research and development at The AMI School.

With an experience of over 18 years in the field of education, working with different organizations in different capacities, has enriched her knowledge and skills. She completed her Masters in Teacher Education and received a diploma in TEFL from AKU. Furthermore, she recently went on to get trained in ECD from AKU Pakistan. Naureen, participated in a research project on the “Role of Occupational Therapy in promoting Inclusive Education in Pakistan” where she worked with a team of OTs from Brunel University – London and DUHS Pakistan.
